Our data analysis team provides an observation for each Premier League Team using PFF FC event data, physical metrics, and our unique grading system. To read more about how we grade players, click here.

Arsenal

Arsenal have completed the most passes breaking the defensive line this season with 14. They also have the best success rate for defensive line-breaking passes with 70% of their attempts resulting in success. Only Liverpool (58%) are close to the Gunners’ league-leading conversion rate.

Aston Villa

New signing Morgan Rogers leads the league in our tackle resistance grade (90.4). This is our grade determining how well a player protects the ball against defenders.

Brentford

Brentford have the best win percentage in aerial duels so far this season, winning 56.72% of those challenges.

Brighton & Hove Albion

Danny Welbeck has been a standout performer so far this season. His 80.8 shooting grade ranks 5th among centre-forwards so far. He is 11th overall among qualified players.

AFC Bournemouth

Neto has the second-highest shot-stopping grade after the first two games. He’s received four positive grades and no negative grades on his 12 saves this season.

Chelsea

No team has a higher percentage of Lane Pressures in the opening two games with 32.22% of their successful pressures coming from pressing the lane. Lane pressures are when instead of pressing the player on the ball directly, the defender presses the lane in order to force the ball into a less dangerous situation rather than trying to force a mistake from the carrier. A higher percentage of Lane pressures suggests a more patient approach to pressing.

Crystal Palace

Eberechi Eze is our highest-graded set-piece shooter, owing to his incredible disallowed free-kick against Brentford in the first week of the season. We include possessions after a foul in our grades if they take place before the whistle is blown as they are still an accurate reflection of a player’s ability. The only other player with a positively graded shot from a set-piece this season is West Ham’s Lucas Paqueta for his penalty against Aston Villa.

Everton

It’s been a tough start to the season for the Toffees. Dwight McNeil has created 6 chances for Everton this season, with the rest of the squad only combining for 8.

Fulham

Andreas Pereira has the highest cross-grade for any player in the league (94.3). He has also created more chances than anybody else with 13, 5 more than Trent-Alexander Arnold in second.

Ipswich Town

Omari Hutchinson has recorded the most pressures by any player over the first two games this season (104). This could have been expected given the Tractor Boys started against two of the league's best teams, Liverpool and Manchester City, having 38% and 25% of possession respectively. It is a positive sign however, that they were willing to get at some of the league’s powerhouses, especially starting the first half against Liverpool so brightly.

Leicester

Victor Kristiansen has the highest grade on crosses from open play, a league-leading 90.3.

Liverpool

After the first two weeks, six Liverpool players occupy spots in PFF FC’s top 20 passing grades.

4. Trent Alexander-Arnold (87.7)

10. Dominik Szoboszlai (84.1)

12. Alexis Mac Allister (83.7)

13. Luis Diaz (83.4)

15. Virgil Van Dijk (82.5)

18. Mohamed Salah (80.5)

Arne Slot’s side has started the season with two fairly comfortable wins demonstrating the kind of football that led the Dutchman to be the man to replace Jurgen Klopp. Virgil Van Dijk has been a standout performer so far, not only defensively, but also in transition, leading the team in line-breaking passes.

Manchester City

Erling Haaland is inevitable. He currently sits atop of PFF FC’s shooting grades list with a 98.1, but he is also the highest-graded player when looking at our shots under pressure table, with an 84.2 grade.

Manchester United

No player has graded higher than Harry Maguire in 50/50 duels (98.9). He’s also 6th in Aerial Duel grades among qualified players (85.8).

Newcastle United

Newcastle United have had a mixed start to the season, hanging onto three points against Southampton in the season opener and drawing 1-1 against Bournemouth. One notable data point is that Newcastle ranks last in the Premier League for completing passes while under pressure, with only 69.2% reaching their target when a defender is bearing down on them.

Nottingham Forest

Neco Williams appeared in our Team of the Week for Gameweek 1. He had a 78.1 Crossing grade and a league-high 85.3 tackling grade in Forest’s opening-day draw against Bournemouth.

Southampton

Southampton have completed the most line-breaking passes over the first two games with 116. The biggest contributions to this are from their centre-back trio Taylor Harwood-Bellis (1st overall, 33), Jan Bednarek (T-3rd, 23) and Jack Stephens (T-7th, 18). However, their building from the back playing style hasn’t produced any returns yet with two 1-0 defeats to start the year.

Tottenham Hotspur

James Maddison has had an exciting start to the season. He currently sits third overall in both our passing grades (89.3) and our crossing grades (89.9).

West Ham United

Mohamed Kudus has the second-highest dribble grade among qualified players (78.5), trailing only Liverpool’s Luis Diaz.

Wolves

Mario Lemina is Wolves' highest-graded passer this season with an 83.1 grade. He also has a 75.7 aerial duel grade (6th best among all midfielders) and a 77.6 grade in 50/50 duels (9th best midfielder).
